ORBITAL DANCES
"Orbital Dances," a contemporary ballet in six movements, was choreographed in 2008 by Francisco Martinez for Francisco Martinez Dancetheatre.
Here is an excerpt from LA Weekly's announcement of the 2008 premiere performance: "Years ago, Martinez drew on electronic music from composers like Varèse and Subotnick, but has not utilized electronic music for a long time, until an original electronic composition from local composer Mark Mercury provided the inspiration for Martinez' newest, Orbital Dances."
The score is quirky, futuristic, and electronic (save for a few orchestral instruments here and there).
