The Little Bug With A Big Idea
This eighteen-minute orchestral tale for children was composed to an original story by Janai Pringle, whose Saturday morning cartoon scripts and children's stories always have a touch of charm and whimsy.
The action centers around a little bug, a gum-chewing inventor named Philo, who must save his village from a huge dilemma. A baby dragon named Singe, while on his way to enter a tap dancing contest, has accidentally stuck himself in the mouth of the valley where the village is located, so that no one can bring any food in. The village will starve unless Philo can save the day, which he does by using the only resource available to someone of his size--his cleverness.
Philo is portrayed by a solo muted trumpet, and Singe by a solo double bass.
